A proprietary \"canted coil spring\" is used to provide a \"snap together\" action: two pieces, no moving parts, nothing to break and the spring is replaceable if that's ever needed. The spring is manufactured by a company that specializes in \u003cstrong\u003eonly\u003c\/strong\u003e this type of spring. It's commonly used for electrical and mechanical interconnects on everything from heart implants to military electronics to stuff that flies in space. You'll get a crazy charge in just a few seconds. Much more effective than with a standard LED light that outputs almost zero UV...Have you seen our \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/darksucks.mom\/collections\/gear-gifts\/products\/foursevens-t-shirt-glow-in-the-dark\"\u003eGlow in the Dark Foursevens shirts\u003c\/a\u003e? They are so bright you can use them as a light source when fully charged! \u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eIdentifying materials that fluoresce:\u003c\/strong\u003e This is sort of the fun part. The ruby balls we use on Lambda tops fluoresce like mad under UV light. If you work with tritium vials, using a UV light will cause the phosphor to glow so you can see what color you have in the daytime. You can also use it to cure Norland (see below). \u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eCheck yo' money:\u003c\/strong\u003e Most modern paper currency fluoresces under UV light. Cool right? Be sure that suitcase isn't filled with counterfeit bills. \u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eScorpion Hunting:\u003c\/strong\u003e If you live in the US South West (or somewhere else with scorpions) you know what I'm talking about. Scorpions glow under UV so you can easily avoid them, even in the dark ;) \u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eSetting UV curing compounds:\u003c\/strong\u003e Many people are using Norland 61 for setting tritium and glow powder. The Beta UV will set Norland in just a few seconds. Move the light farther away to reduce the power.
